Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i Island - Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa and Ka‘ike Productions showcases Kamaha‘o, “The Wondrous Myths of Hawai‘i” each Monday and Friday evening outdoors under the stars on the shores of Keauhou Bay.

Kamaha‘o has quickly become tops with visitors who list it among their most memorable island experiences. The show is so cutting edge organizers are hesitant when calling it a lu‘au. While laced with many of the aspects expected at a lu‘au such as the excitement and gracefulness of traditional Hawaiian dance to delicious food prepared by Sheraton Keauhou’s talented culinary staff, Kamaha‘o is also much more.

It is a state-of-the-art production with lavish theatrics and costuming woven in to each scene. Ka‘ike Productions founding members Kaleo Phillips and Pono Murray worked long and hard to develop a concept based on factual history, legends, original songs and chants. They’ve intertwined Hawaiian language, story telling and traditional hula with modern dance, acrobatic strength and beauty. Visitors learn about Pele, goddess of the volcano, Poliahu, goddess of the snow, the goddess Hi‘iaka, or “cloudy one,” among others.

Kamaha‘o takes place at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa, every Monday and Friday evening, outdoors, under the stars. For reservations, call 808-930-4828. $79.95 price for adults includes open bar, tax and gratuity. Children ages 5 to 12 are $49.95. For Ali‘i (tableside family style service), add $15.
